I would like some advice please. Have locked myself out of my phone because I can't remember the pass code to allow me to reset and delete all content = can anyone help me please?

You may need to restore your phone in iTunes. This will remove all data.
Thanks but I want to delete all content because I have upgraded and want to pass my old phone on
I am unclear as to the password you forgot. If it is the one to unlock the phone see here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306. if you want to give your phone to someone else, you will want to erase all content and settings by going to settings, general, reset, and tap erase all content and settings. Then the new owner can set it up as their phone.
Thanks kb1951 it is asking for a pin code when I try to 'erase all content and settings' and that is a code I have forgotten (don't ever remember setting it up 😟). Do you know if there is any way around it? (fingers crossed)
Put the phone into recovery mode. This will erase the device and its passcode.
1.Disconnect all cables from your device.
2.Hold down the Sleep/Wake button, then "slide to power off" to turn off your device.
3.Press and hold the Home button and plug the device into your computer. If your device doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on. Don't release the Home button.
4.Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
5.If iTunes doesn't open automatically, open it. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.
6.Click OK. Then restore the device.
If your device doesn't go into recovery mode, try steps 1–4 again.
