My IPhone 5c charger is making my phone go crazy

So yesterday I bought a brand-new $20 lighthing cable for my iPhone 5c, and it was working fine for a few hours, but last night I went to plug it in and it went crazy- it kept rapidly flashing between saying it was charging and not charging, like it couldn't tell what it wanted to do. I'm not bending the cable or anything, and I've tried restarting my phone, yet the same problem still occurs. I couldn't find any other people who seemed to have this problem. Any solutions?
