Stolen iphone 5

So my iPhone 5 was stolen over a year ago by some gangster wanna be with no teeth. Anyways, after checking my find my iPhone today on my new iPhone and mac, when i got bored, i noticed it still has not connected to the internet and it has been over a year? Is there any way to find the details of the phone and have it tracked? via EG. sim card location corresponding with the IEMI number when it is active? I am unaware of the tools thieves use to block such things or change them or if this is even possible or illegal to do but i would just love to know if there would be any chance at all of finding this and getting some revenge by getting my phone back?

if presenting a warrant the police can force carriers to triangular track devices using IEMI they use it to track missing persons at times

but it's a very costly thing so unless you are like a president or the likes I kinda doubt the police in your country will help you

Honestly, if it's been over a year since the theft, I can't see any law enforcement being too willing to help now. By now it could have been sold anywhere on the planet, broken up for sale of parts, lost, destroyed or who knows what. I think you need to just give up its ghost and forget about it.
