Q: iphoto v photo - dupes?

I am trying to free up space on my MacBook Air and iCloud drive.

I have 7GB of photos in iPhoto and 8GB in Photos. My iPhoto is imported into Photo.

Are these two groups of photos duplicate or individual? Can I delete those in iPhoto because they are in Photo?

You can delete the iPhoto Library, but it will not free much space. Photos and iPhoto are sharing the original image files by hard links, see:
