How long are my combined clips on the timeline? How do I find out?

I know by highlighting a particular clip and clicking on the display I can find out the length of a single clip. How can I find out the length of all the clips on the timeline combined? I'm creating a three minute video and I need to constantly check that the over length is below the limit.
