Can anyone help me override the disabled ipod as I can't remember the passcode?

Oops first mistake just realised this is a touch 2nd generation not a classic, in case that makes any difference!

Hi thanks so much for your response. I'm not savvy with technology. This ipod belonged to my husband but he had a serious head injury 5 years ago so there's no chance of getting the passcode remembered now. I've tried to follow those steps but the ipod doesn't want to turn off (the first step). If you have any further advice I would be very grateful and thanks for your time.
