unable to paste anything on ipad

We are working on a variety of iPads and suddenly one third or so of the iPads will not allow the users to paste anything. This seems to be a universal problem regardless of the apps being used... cannot paste a copied link into an email, a website, or anywhere. We cannot paste text into anything either.

We have closed apps and reopened them.

We have shutdown the iPads and rebooted them.

What now?

Rebooting an iPad is not the same as resetting. Due to the differing terminology used by everyone, make sure what you did matches what is described below for a device reset. If you haven't actually reset the device as below, then try that.

Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.

2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Interestingly, this problem occurred in 2 out of ten iPad minis used by teachers at one school. The problem popped up in the middle of some training, only on these two machines. All machines were used by teachers and not "mass imaged". They are running many of the same apps, up-to-date in iOS installed.

Is there some sort of permission which might prohibit pasting?

No restriction that I have ever seen, but I'm trying to determine what common setting, theme, whatever it might be that could be causing this. If it is only two iPads, I would try resetting all settings on only one device. If that works, do it on the other iPad. You will not lose any data, but many of the device settings have to be entered again, like WiFi passwords, preferred wallpapers, and other items that you find in the settings app.

Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings.
