Problem deleting bulk mail item

I have received a piece of junk mail in my Bulk Mail box. When I try to delete it, the little round beachball spins and nothing else seems to happen. After a minute or two, I powered the MacBook off and rebooted. Same thing on second try. How can I get that mail out of there??

Thanks

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

1. Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try again to delete the message. If you still can't, continue.

2. Open the Mail preferences window and select the Accounts tab. Select one of the IMAP accounts from the list on the left. Under Mailbox Behaviors, uncheck the box marked

Store junk messages on the server

Repeat for all other IMAP accounts, if any. Close the window and save the changes.
