Hema map not logging

Does anyone have the same problem that since ios8 update the logging on hema maps on iPad is not tracking. I use a bad elf gps system and it worked great until. the update. I am lucky to have a second iPad that I can use for now as still running on ios6. Is there some way to get this tracking again as this is our record of all the great places we are travelling.

It's a verified issue with iOS 8.3 and some Bluetooth GPS receivers. There is apparently a fix in the works by Apple with iOS 8.4. It's release date is unknown.
