Q: My Mac freezes. Mouse navigates but doesn't allow me to open anyting

My Mac takes at least 5 minutes to boot up to the login screen, once logged in the mouse will randomly stop allowing me to open applications. The mouse moves but doesn't open apps.

Early 2009 iMacs don't run Classic. Try running in safe mode (shift key boot) and find your operating system under Apple menu -> About This Mac. Then repost the question in the appropriate forum:
