Do I have to buy the new iMovie having owned a previous version?

I have iMovie 8.0.6. and I'm wondering if I have to buy the newest version? Or is there somewhere I can just update it? Thanks for reading!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You purchase the latest version from the App Store. Updates are free - upgrades are not.
