Titles: won't render, can't edit them

I added a couple titles to a FCP X project. A few days later I got a new MBP. Now I can't edit the titles, and they won't render. They show orange render lines, and the titles just show as "title" over the video. I also have a dialog box that says, "loading continuous." When I double click on the title clip, the title edit tools don't show under the "title" tab There's a purple title icon, and next to that it says Continuous: (my title text), then the time.

I've tried rendering all and rendering selection; no dice. My new MBP: 2.5Ghz, 16gb, 1TB SSD, Retina.
