importing cd's itunes 12.1.2

Running a Mac Mini with OS X 10.10.3, itunes 12.1.27. I recently am not able to import CD's. I get the error file could not be converted. Not sure why, though I am sure it took place after I updated to the new version. Any ideas what might be going on? I have read/write privileges.
