Wireless logitech mouse works only on one side

I have a macbook pro (early 2015), hootoo usb hub, and logitech m705 wireless mouse. OSX 10.10.3.

The problem is: When the wireless transmitor for the mouse is in the usb hub it only works on the right usb port (on macbook pro) and not on the left side of machine. When it is in the left side of machine, the mouse function gets very choppy and unreliable.

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on here?
