May 30, 2015 1:23 PM in response to Cevicanoby LeCreature,You can drag and drop a .jpg or .png image directly into your book from your desktop or any folder containing images , and then move it, shrink it, etc to fit as you want.
You don't need to load the image from an Apple app, but that does work too.

May 31, 2015 9:55 AM in response to Cevicanoby lgcebuk,I have the same problem and raised it with Apple Support. They tried troubleshooting but ended up reproducing the problem on their own machine. Mao they referred it to the U.S. Engineers who reported that it is "reproducible worldwide" = a bug!
We will have to wait for an update (unspecified date) for Photo for Mac in the new OS to work with iBooks Author. LeCreature's workaround will help you in the meantime.
Is it too much to expect Apple's Beta testing checks that new apps work with their own existing programs?

May 31, 2015 2:17 PM in response to Cevicanoby Frank Lowney,The problem is with the new Photos.app. Use iPhoto instead. It is still on your system. After a while, the Photos.app will stop launching automatically – at least that was my experience after switching back to iPhoto.
