my dvd drive might be broken, i dont know if it is or no...

My dvd drive wont work. I insert the dvd level into the mac mini, and it wont read. after a minute and lots of whirring noises and stuff, it spits it out. I dont know if my drive is too dirty, or just plain broken, or is it the disk. I cleaned disk 5 times. I think my disk drive might be broken. Also, I am trying to use handbrake. (movie is big hero 6.)

Does the disk work in another optical drive?

If it works then try this method of cleaning

How to clean a DVD Superdrive using a credit card !

If still problem then the drive died. Get an external optical drive. One that uses AC power vice power from the USB connection is better
