i have a macbook pro 3,1 and i want to connect my pc to my tv to watch netflix.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Your TV probably has a HDMI input. If that is the case, something like this will be needed:

Note that this will transmit only video.

For audio, you will have to tap the audio output port of the MBP and connect to the TV RCA audio input ports.
