Why upgrade to Safari 7.0?

Have Mac Book Pro purchased in 2011. With Safari 6.1.6. Receive Microsoft Office and Apple software update notifications automatically.

Recently register to a new web site for business access and they only support Safari 7.0 or 7.1 version. Therefore can access the web site. What hasn't Apple sent me update to 7.0? Or do I need to download? What are pro's and cons?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

1. Because it requires Mavericks or above.

2. You need to upgrade the computer to Mavericks(only available if you previously downloaded the full installer for it) or Yosemite.

Open the Mac App Store and download Yosemite. If you downloaded the full Mavericks installer before Yosemite came out, you can instead log into the Mac App Store with the Apple ID you used, click on the Purchases tab, and redownload it.

Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.
