2nd generation updated to 6.2.1 and now.......

recently updated my 2nd gen unit to 6.2.1 and did a restore/reset and now it will not accept my apple id password which I've had for years. Any ideas on how to fix without changing apple id or password?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

You may have tried all this, but just in case...

As someone who has fat-fingered my passwords too many times (even when I can swear I've entered it correctly) I'd recommend using the remote app on an iPad or iPhone (if you have either) to ensure that you, in fact, have entered it correctly.

Other times, it has ended up that I had the password wrong and only discovered this after trying it on a computer and having it fail there.
