Safari

1. Delete Cookies

Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:

Click the “Details” button.

Remove all cookies except ones from Apple, your internet service provider and banks.

2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.

Turn on those one by one and test.

Computer getting hot?

Reset SMC.

Choose the method for “On Mac notebooks with non-removable battery”.

If this doesn’t help, run EtreCheck and post the report here please.

Best.

Have you installed any of the following:

  • Anti-malware
  • Mac cleaners
  • memory cleaners

All of the above can be consuming valuable resources in the background, and they are not needed.

It is possible you have accidentally installed adware, which is consuming resources in the background (you can try AdwareMedic).

The EtreCheck output will help identify any 3rd party additions and if you post it here, someone can analyze it

Please post the output from EtreCheck

We well analyze the output and make suggestions.

If you do not want to post the EtreCheck output, you could collect the same information Linc Davis asks for in the following post

<Mu 27" iMc is running slow>

Or do both.

But as a starter, you should remove CleanMyMac according to the companies uninstall instructions, or check out John Galt's instructions

<Re: How do I remove Clean My Mac 3 from Mac book pro with OS 10.7.5>

But if your system was running slow enough to cause you to install CleanMyMac, then there may be other issues, which is why you should post the EtreCheck output or the information Linc Davis requests in other posts.
