Q: Mac will randomly reboot during boot sequence with file vault active

Hello,

My MacBook Pro randomly reboots during boot. This happen after I type in my password and during the early stages of the white progress bar filling. The screen just goes black, the boot tone and Apple logo appear and I need to type my password again; then the boot process goes through as usual. It is not a game breaker since boot time is around a few seconds, but sometimes it is very annoying. I did not have this problem when file vault was not activated.

Any suggestions?

Regards

Back up all data, then disable FileVault in the Security & Privacy preference pane. Wait for it to finish decrypting (which will take several hours), and then see whether there's an improvement. You can use the computer while decryption is in progress, but performance will be reduced. You won't need the backup unless something goes wrong.

If the problem is resolved, you can try reactivating FileVault.

Well, I am not really willed to such a time and resource consuming workaround for a simply just annoying bug. My hope is that Apple issues a fix or at least an explanation of this. Thought maybe that bug can be solved easily and happens to more users than only me.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
