Trash can is missing
mu trash can is missing from my side bar. How do I get it back ?

Does this involve iPhoto in some way? If it does, what version do to have?

As a wild guess If you are using OS X 10.10.3 and Photos then there is no trash can - deleted photos are in the recently deleted folder - File menu ==> recently deleted

Move the cursor to the right of the Recent label in the sidebar until Show appears. Click on Show and you'll get the Trash bin, Last Imp;sort, Flagged and other albums back.
