Why didn't you keep the older I-Photo Program?

I have the Desktop Mac w/10.10.3...The new Photos is harder to work with as opposed to the older I-Photo Program...When the new Photo came along, some of my older pics got lost...The design of the new Photo screwed up my old albums (the way I had them set up) Whoever designed the new Photos program screwed up a great system...

iPhoto was not deleted from your hard drive, only removed from the Dock. If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can still use your iPhoto library. If you don't have that version but some earlier version of 9.x try following Terence Devlin's iinstructions in this post to obtain iPhoto 9.6.1 from the App Store:

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash

Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

I didn't know that, at the time the upgrade was offered...I assumed (which I will never do again with computer upgrades) that when the upgrade was made public, that it would be a better system to handle my pics/albums, etc...I am not 100% computer savvy and just didn't know...so...having said that, my next (real) question would be this: What reason is there to try and improve an already great I-Photo system with something that was suppose to improve the older program? I'm not the only one who had this problem either...I lost some pics in the transition...My neatly arranged albums and events were messed up...I had to spend hours on the phone trying to get pics and albums back, and I still lost some of them, even with (2) back-up systems in place.

A transition to a "better" upgraded Photos should not allow for the older files to be altered...so....Those who designed "Photo" should please consider what I am trying to say...and to not assume that we all know what to do with upgrades.

Why didn't you keep the older I-Photo Program?
