song skipping when using genius mix

on May 27, 2015, my iTunes, which is updated to 12.1.2.27 running on OSX 10.9.5 started skipping during song play when using Genuis Mix. I have 8GB RAM and am doing the minimal normal stuff - Pages, Firefox - so am not overtaxing the memory. Has anyone else had this problem and knows of a solution?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 8GB RAM
