every time I open safari a bunch of pages open with it?

I have a mac book pro and every time I open safari a bunch of webpages that I have previously open all across the top. I was having trouble opening a webpage and it recommended that I go into my preferences and change something but I can't remember what I changed and I think that is when the problem began?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Most likely, there are two preference settings involved in your Safari:

  • General
    • Safari opens with: All windows from last session
    • Should be, Safari opens with: A new window
  • Tabs
    • Open pages in tabs instead of windows: probably set to Automatically, or Always
    • Mine is set to Automatically. This would only be an issue only if you were opening all windows from last session

This happens to be the Pages word processing community, and it has nothing to do with browser pages in Safari.
