How to see content library in imovie

Hi, I keep running into a problem with iMovie. When I first opened imovie it looked like the second picture here (the more colorful picture), however I exited out of the bottom part and now the screen looks like the first picture. The content library is no where to be seen and I can't edit anything. I have no clue what to do. HELP!! Thanks in advance!!
