using mouse thumbwheel in emacs

I develop code primarily using emacs in a Unix-type command-line environment. At work on Windows I use Cygwin for this. On my Mac, I use Terminal on my MacBook Pro. What I want to do on my Mac is to get emacs/Terminal to function as it does at work. Specifically:

  • At work I can use the mouse thumbwheel to scroll through the document within emacs. On my Mac, it instead scrolls the Terminal window.
  • Ditto with the PgUp and PgDown keys: at work, I can scroll through the document within emacs. On my Mac, it scrolls the Terminal window.

My .emacs files are the same between work and home.

Would appreciate any help to make my Mac emulate my work environment better on these points.
