Q: Is Apple aware that reliability of readings stinks since the update to 1.0.1?

1.0.1 brought 2 changes to the heart rate monitor. The every 10 minute reading is now more like every 40 minutes or whatever the watch thinks is ok that day with Apple now saying this is normal. I dislike it but... oh well. Worse, readings are now erratic. I can go out for a 40 minute brisk walk (Brisk Walk on exercise program) and for a good part it will say my heart rate is 65 and then jump to between 110 and 140. Prior to the update it worked fine. This is with a sport band snugged tight. Also, the exercise ring will give me credit for 16 minutes out of 40. That seems true even when the heart rate monitor has worked for most of the walk. Since I am in my target heart rate range for the entire walk I would expect more. I have pretty much given up on the heart rate monitor and the exercise ring. I love the other things the watch does but expected more from the exercise features.

There is a huge thread on this issue where many users, myself included, feel as if Apple has been very deceptive with what they have done here by changing the every 10 minutes to now be every 10 minutes if you or your arm are not moving. That means me sitting typing this message right now disqualifies it from reading my heart rate, totally unacceptable to me and many others, so please submit your feedback. Thanks.

I sent in two feedback reports. The first was on heart rate monitoring which seems broken to me. Not only can I go hours with no reading but the readings i get when I go out for a brisk walk will jump from 144  (correct reading) to 65 with a sport band on snugly. The second report involved the exercise ring which is useless. A brisk walk for 40 minutes with my heart rate in the target zone the whole time gave me credit for 16 minutes whiles lesser activities count for more. It was motivational initially but not anymore. It is meaningless. There are threads on this so I am not the only one seeing this issue. I just wish Apple would say "We screwed up and we will fix it."

I am so glad to see these post about the watch having issues recording an accurate heart rate since the update.  I have called and complained to apple support twice and they have told me to reset the watch each time I call.  Everything went wrong though after the update, which I explained to them.  I play tennis and do "boot camp" style workouts and the heart rate reading is awful.  When I play tennis (singles) and I'm completely out of breath, I look at my watch and my heart rate is supposedly 62!  Worse, my average heart rate for an hour and fifteen minutes of singles tennis is 109.  I get so frustrated with how bad it is at recording my heart rate during my matches and telling me that I burned almost nothing in calories.  Apple needs to fix this immediately since I bought the watch for the sports app and now it isn't working!  They also need to stop telling me to calibrate my watch.
