I received a text from an unsaved number last night, in my haste, I deleted the message without saving the number.
Note; the message did not contain the number, the message was from the number, and the number was yet to be saved.
Is there anyway to retrieve it?

You can retrieve the message if you created an iTunes or iCloud backup of your iPhone between the time you received the message and the time you deleted it.
The message is saved on your backup. Simply restore your iPhone using that backup.
Next time something like this happens try shaking your iOS device. Most apps have a built in undo feature that is activated by shaking.
You may be able to find a 3rd party program but not with apple software.
