Weird caps lock problem on log in screen

Hi,

I just bought a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inches (2015). It runs Yosemite (10.10.3). Everything looked perfectly fine until I shut it down after using it for the first time; when I fired it back on, I could not log in even if I knew I had the right password (I had just changed it). I soon noticed that, on the log in screen - and this only happens on the log in screen - the small icon that indicates that the caps lock is on does not follow what the light on the keyboard indicates. This was what caused my password problem; when I type it using shift for the caps, I don't have any problem. Does anyone have encountered a similar problem? I don't think it's an hardware issue since I made several tests and noticed that it only happened when trying to log in immediately after booting (and not after waking the computer or when using any app whatsoever). What could cause this? Is there a setting somewhere that could solve it?

Thank you very much!

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I just ran into this issue with a user and have had no luck in fixing it, SMC/PRAM resets do nothing, laptop is new out of box and all updates are installed. This need to be resolved by Apple ASAP! So far it looks like the Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) that run Yosemite 10.10.5 with FileVault enabled are affected by this issue. Im apart of the IT department for a large company and I just checked 3 other computers so far with the same setup and all had the exact same issue were caps lock key gets out of sync causing people to miss type their password which leads them to getting locked out of our network. Also I tested a external apple keyboard and it does not have this issue. If anyone has a solution please let me know! Thank you

Specs of our laptops that are being affected:

3.1 Ghz Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB memory, 256GB Flash with Intel Iris 6100

Seems these people possibly have the same issue also:

I have the same problem with the Caps Lock and sent the macbook back to apple. Around two weeks later I got a new mac et voila the same issue.
I searched a lot for a solution, but it seems that in this thread almost everything is said. I wonder how long it will last until apple show reactions.
The whole Caps Lock issue whether in log in screen or for fast typers while typing the keys lightly and quickly with no reaction is REALLY ANNOYING.

yes I have just bought a new macbook pro from john lewis the other day and when logging in failed to input my password several times.

Thought I was going mad, and then after looking closer I noticed the caps lock was not syncing with the light on the key and on screen only at the log in screen.

Once you are logged in its fine.

After checking on here it would seem I am not alone and it is definatley a software issue from the looks of it so we will have to wait for an update.

I have changed my password so it does not have capitals in for now.

Though I have just turned off file vault to see if this works as I see it has worked for others.

I have exactly the same problem on a brand new Macbook Pro 13 bought in Jan 2016 installed with El Capitan 10.11.3...

It takes several attempts to log in as the light on the caps lock is not consistent with the on-screen symbol.

Poor show that it's not been fixed yet. Very frustrating.

I was going to take it back to be fixed but reading these comments it seems it's a software problem not hardware.

I too have the same problem. I think it is a software issue not a hardware one.

Hope apple fixes it soon with the next update.

No, no, no, no and NO.

Apple is not aware of your problem is not planning to fix it. If you do not promptly present yourself at an appointment at the genius Bar or similar direct contact with them, they will never know this is an issue for you.
