"unknown artist" designation in iTunes 12.1.2.27

Hello,

I recently added some content I downloaded to my itunes but several are showing "unknown artist" even though it is recognizing the info on the file. I would like to know how to manually get rid of the label of "unknown artist" to help iTunes categorize the content properly. I am using iTunes 12.1.2.27 on 64 bit Windows 7.

Thank you,

Hello, WndrWmn.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you need to remove the "unknown artists" description on some recently import media Here is the article that walks you through that process.

Thanks Jason, The link you provided shows how to update the song info AFTER you have found it.

My problem is HOW CAN I FIND ALL MY SONGS that are labeled as UNKNOWN ARTIST or UNKNOWN ALBUM. The search will not find UNKNOWN, because I believe the word UNKNOWN is not even in this tag, the tag is completely blank (except for the song title) So said a different way, how can find songs with blank artist or blank album?

Much appreciated.

Make a smart playlist like this. The + adds a new line. The ... adds a subclause.

I've included Album Artist as I know iTunes behaves best when this is completed consistently. You can add additional rules to the any subclause for other issues that you want to correct, e.g. Has artwork is false.
