Q: Photos missing from media folder

I have lots of photos in the Photos app - within the app I can see these fine and I can share them using the share functionality. However those photos are not showing up in the Photos folder within the Media folder on my mac (iMac running Yosemite). Neither the albums, the moments, nothing...

This means, if I want to attach the photos within, say, a webmail programme (i.e. one where the 'share' option doesn't work), I can't.

Any suggestions? With so many instances of the word 'photos', this is proving tricky to search on-line!

If Photos isn't showing up at all in the open dialog of an app after selecting the Media > Photos item in the sidebar, that probably mens the app needs to be updated to recognize the Photos Library. Try using Preview's open dialog & selecting Media > Photos in the sidebar. If the Photos Library shows up there, then it is the other app(s) that need updating.

Also, make sure your Photos Library is the System Photo Library.

RC-R - thank you so much! The problem was the system photo library... Now all works perfectly (famous last words?)
