why does my ipod not connect to my ITunes? It says 'there is a problem with this drive'

why does my ipod not connect to my ITunes? It says 'there is a problem with this drive' I then uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes and have latest version but nothing works! Going a bit bad as want to move tunes between my ipod and itunes but my computer won' recognize the ipod?

help!
