Q: Will the new IOS fix my iPod Touch 5th Gen Wifi? (No 2.4Ghz)

After months and months of searching and visits to the genius bar at Apple, I was finally able to get my iPod touch 5th Gen to connect to a wifi router... but ONLY if it is a dual band and I connect ONLY to the 5Ghz band. Is there any move by Apple to acknowledge the wifi issue, and fix it with future IOS releases? Please, I would very much like to use my iPod touch while traveling.... but not everyone has a dual band router, most are set with 2.4Ghz which is unreachable since the 8.x.x "update" in January 2015.

The error (and believe me I've tried 1'000 "solutions") is consistently "Incorrect Password" whenever I try any 2.4 Ghz band. No password trouble with any 5Ghz band.

Thank You

iPod touch, iOS 8.1.3, Cannot Connect to Wifi since IOS Up

Nobody here knows what the iOS update will bring.

Does it conect to any 2.4 GHz networks? Yo were not clear?

What does/did the Apple Genius say?

Have you restored to factory settings/new iPod (not from backup)

Sorry, I thought I was clear:

"but ONLY if it is a dual band and I connect ONLY to the 5Ghz band"

It was on this page (and you) who helped me through a lot of help attempts... all fruitless: Restore iPod to Factory, Restore iPod to Backup, Restore wifi router to factory, Change password to a simpler format, Update firmware on router, Purchase new router.... all fruitless efforts. The only cure for  this frustration which lasted over 6 months for me was to examine the wifi router of my older brother's house, where my iPod oddly connected just fine. It was only after looking through his router settings where I learned that this iPod 5th Gen (AFTER the January 8.x.x update!) will only connect to the 5Ghz half of the dual band router.... and that also works more consistently if I lower it to "20 channels" I ended up purchasing the exact same Belkin Dual Band router as my brother's house, and then mirroring his settings.

This is completely a turn-off for a product. Where will I turn anytime I want to travel or visit friend's homes with an iPod? It seems that the majority of available signals out there are on 2.4Ghz... correct?

What does the Apple Genius say? They sent me to this article where I achieved nothing:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202068

I find it Very odd when the Genius tells me: "Hmmmm? We've never seen this before".

Oh... and at some point he also said I should just consider purchasing a new iPod. This is a 5TH GEN... the latest and greatest. Why spend more $$?

    Thank You

I have not seem your problem, before. I have seen where there was no wifi connection after an iOS update (wifi grayed out) but never seen one where only the 2.4 GHz would not connect

You've not seen my problem? And yet in 6 months of frustration, I've encountered many many others with this identical problem (wifi password after iOS 8).... All the more reason to avoid a product, manufacturer, company, and market philosophy in my future purchases.

If I recall those were for all networks like I siad, not just 2.4 GHz ones

Also, that is an iPhone forum discussion.

I have three devices on iOS 8 and I have no problem connecting to either 2.4 or 5 GHz networks
