Mac Mini (late 2012) is somewhat slow.

Hi all,

I've noticed my Mac Mini (late 2012) is somewhat slow to startup, and also takes a lot of time to open certain apps (MS Office Suite, in particular). I figured I would go ahead and post my EtreCheck results here, and see if anyone saw any glaring issues with them. We have the 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, with only 4GB of memory, if that helps at all.

Thanks!

1. First off I would uninstall the cisco maintenance-ware.

(third party maint-apps and av-ware will only bog down and create problems for your Mac)

2. Then I would upgrade the RAM to a minimum of 8GB.

(4GB is hardly enough to run the OS X Yosemite, plus a browser like Safari or Chrome)

3. Lastly like laptops, Mac Mini's only have 5400rpm HDD's.

(you might also want to consider upgrading it to a 7200rpm HGST HDD or SSD)
