I've never had any problem with a usb mice.

Now, a gaming mouse with 53½ buttons may be a different story. You would need a macOS drivers to support all the extra buttons ... unless the mouse allows you to map the buttons to keys.

You could try a keyboard app to translate you function key into whatever you want. In the day, I used youpi key.

I am looking at the Razer death adder or The Razer abyssus.

But i dont need/want to customize it(program the buttons). So will i be able to use the mouse without drivers or the razer synapse(razer software which is incompatible with my MAC)?

Bcoz as of now i use a Logitech M557 bluetooth mouse. It's all working.

I like my mouse-trak by itac systems. Once you get the "touch" you can spin the ball and wait til the mouse gets to the desired stop and stop the spin.

Sounds like a question best asked of Razer. I don't recall seeing any older questions in these foruns about that brand of keyboard.

What usually happens on a unsupported keyboard is that the basic actions work, but special functions of the Mac OS will not. If the game counts on that sort of function, or programmable F keys, you may have a problem.

i will just buy an another keyboard. a cm storm rapid tk. with brown switches. its pretty expensive but still, mechanical.

The same cautons apply. There may not be a way to activate special featurs on an obsolete Mac and OS version.

Considering a PowerMac G5 can't run newer games and can't be updated to a newer OS version I wonder about the choice to buy a really expensive keyboard just for gaming. In spite of my advanced age I still game, and use std keyboards but multi-button mice--all Logitech. Their mouse config software will run under OS 10.5 and I've never paid more than about US$25 for the ones we have.

Functions that used to make me reach for F-keys on the keyboard now are accessed by a programmed mouse button. The old MX310 which I have can do four extra button functions without reprogramming the main clicking buttons.

What do u mean by special functions of mac os? So wil, command q etc work?? But on the razer website it says that the keyboard is compatible from mac os x 10.7. But even then as u said,will it work. All i want is basic functions like working keyboard shortcuts and working alphabet keys.

I also use a ppc g5 with mac os x 10.4.11

Generally refers to the Funtion Keys, like sound up/down etc.

Windows + q should work for CMD+q, etc.

Oh ok thx. But not being able to control sound is a horrible but bearable thing. BTW r u 100% sure that evrything else will work? Bcoz im planning of buying it and i might not get a refund if i return it.

No, I'm not sure, never tried one of those, but have tried several PC keyboards on my Macs, including G3s, G4s, G5s, they all worked, & on most the Function keys also worked.

K. But were those keyboards supported for ur ppc's? Bcoz the deathstalker says supported from mac os x 10.7

I use 10.4.11. Did u face the same situation but even then still worked?

Most of the PC KBs I used had no mention of Macs or OSX at all.

Their 10.7 listing must mean it comes with some software. no idea what that does but it wouldn't run on any PPC Mac.
