Q: Power Mac G5 Has Drives That Could Be Put To Better Use

I have a Power Mac G5 early 2004 single core 1.8 GHz that has two drives. One of the, it is using as an internal backup drive, but I do not really keep anything on it, just use it to surf the web and stream videos. Would I be able to remove the backup drive and use it as a storage device if I ever need it? I figure that that is a much better use than having it sit in a Power Mac for no reason forever.

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Single Core, 1.8 GHz

I did that but it is actually stuck in the Power Mac. No way to get it out. It doesn't really matte anyways.

You can either use it as is or put it in an enclosure with an internal Serial ATA interface.

Check nearby or online computer stores for them; any sufficiently large one should have them.

you should check the drive size first. If it's an 80gb drive, you might be better off picking up a flash drive for about the same price as a case

Agree, and in a lot of cases these days, you can purchase an External High Capacity Drive for less than you can purchase some External Enclosures.

IIt's 256 GB, however I was thinking if there is a cheap connector to USB that I could put in it. I don't actually need any storage, I just thought it would be nice to have at hand. I already tried to take it out of the power Mac, but it is lodged in there good

Try YouTube, you can usually find video instructions for removal of anything from any model Mac.
