Q: iphone sync with imac says my phone is synced to my old macbook so i want to erase and transfer from this desktop  that s a scary thought but holds same info

iphone itunes sync with my imac desktop says my phone is laready synced to my old macbook that i dont have anymore so asks do i want to erase this phone and transfer from this desktop  that s a scary thought.

desktop and my iphone6 seem to have old the same info but i think i did this when i first bought it about 5mos ago? and messed it up, had to reenter.  why does it do that? laptop gone what am i suppose to do and what happens when i get my next laptop?

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

     

    As I understand your post, you have been syncing music and/or videos to your iPhone from a MacBook, but have now switched to using an iMac, and now you are warned that in order to sync, you will need to erase the device.  An iPhone can only have music or video synced to it from a single iTunes Library, thus why you are receiving this message.  In order to resolve this, simply enable the option to manually manage the content as shown in the article below.

     

    You might see a message that your device is synced with another library. This means that you've used a different computer to sync your device in the past, and iTunes can't sync without first erasing and replacing all iTunes content on your device.

    • If you're using an iPhone, you can only add music or video from a single iTunes Library.
    • If you're using an iPad or iPod. you can add music from multiple iTunes Libraries, but video from only one iTunes Library.
