Unable to hide music iTunes 12.1.2.27 + iOS 8.3

Problem: I have purchased music showing up on my iPhone that I can't seem to remove or hide. (Christmas music I don't want 350 days of the year).

I have an iPhone 5s 16gb running iOS 8.3

I have subscribed to iTunes match, but do not have this turned on on my iPhone. I manually manage music. (While I would love to use Match, my data plan is costly).

In iTunes I am accessing Store > Purchases and selecting the X in the top left of albums to remove. Nothing happens here.

Some albums it works, but not the ones I actually want to remove.

Having said that Some albums I have been able to remove STILL appear on my iPhone.

OK so I kept going with this and have found a solution.

In iTunes:

1) Downloaded the music from iTunes match / iCloud that I couldn't hide.

2) Once all the albums downloaded, from my music libarary in iTunes, select all the music I want to remove. Hit delete button.

3) Are you sure you want to delete this song from iCloud? YES! DELETE SONGS!

4) Navigate back to iTunes Store > Purchased

5) Hide those albums as before. They actually get hidden now!

On iPhone :

1) Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store

2) Sign out of iTunes

3) Sign back in

4) Those pesky albums I wanted to Hide are now gone!

5) Celebrate.

Hope this helps someone else out there! Seems like iCloud was making decisions I didn't want it to...
