Deleted photos, but no change in storage amount in settings?

My phone is telling me I'm almost out of storage, so I backed up the photos and deleted them. There were several hundred. I went back to check my storage and it still says I have the exact same amount (7.6 GB) being used by my photos, even though I deleted them. I powered off and powered back on thinking the phone needed to "clear out", but there was no change. How do I get those GBs back after deleting the photos? Thanks.

Go to Settings>General>Time & Date and change the Date to 9/1/2014

Then go to your Photos app and click on the Recently Deleted album

If you see photos there, manually delete them and then check your storage again

Don't forget to go back to Settings>General>Time & Date and set your time back to "Set Automatically"

Cheers,
