Update has broken both our ipads!

Chargers no longer supported.


We have an ipad Air 1 and an ipad Air 2.


A couple of weeks ago, we got an iOS 8.3 update. After installing the update on the ipad Air 1 and connecting the charger, the ipad Air 1 said this accessory may not be supported. The charger is not the original but is genuine. We then used the charger from the ipad 2. This was the original charger that came with the ipad 2. A couple of charges later, the ipad Air 1 would no longer accept that charger either. It manages to reject both chargers even when it is powered off.


We have backed up to iCloud. We have restored factory settings on the machine. We have downloaded itunes onto a pc. We have put ipad Air 1 in recovery mode and tried to back up to itunes and wipe and restore everything. We can't because both our chargers are being rejected.


On the ipad Air 2, the update is downloaded but not installed. The ipad Air 2 now says this accessory may not be supported - about the charger which came with it. We did not press ok. After googling ipad charging problems, we decided only to charge the ipad Air 2 when it is off. So far, this is ok and it is charging. However, it means that the ipad Air 2 can never be connected to anything else. The charger is now just a charger.
