I have a Mac running OS X Yosemite. Every time I check to see what programs are open, iTunes is open. I quit the program and when I look again, it's back on. Can anyone tell me why it keeps starting - I am not listening to any music on any of my devices.
Sometimes using Bluetooth or connecting other devices may trigger it.
If the iTunes icon is not showing in the Dock, iTunes is not running. It has a background helper process called "iTunesHelper" that does run all the time. That's normal and you don't need to do anything about it.
That's the problem. The iTunes icon keeps popping up in my dock. When it does, I click on it to quit. When I check again later, it's back. I have been using my iPad to read but not using it for music, etc. Perhaps it is connecting with something on my iPad. But I don't launch iTunes on my iPad either.
