Cut and paste issue

I cannot cut and paste files from one folder to another in my external hard drive. Drag and drop does not work. Neither does CMD C CMD V or cMD option V. This is a fundamental item and should be much simpler to do, I cannot cut and paste files from one folder to another in my external hard drive. Drag and drop does not work. However I can paste the file onto my desktop. But from the desktop I cannot paste it back into the desired folder on my hard drive.

This has nothing to do with Pages for Mac.

You can Copy and Paste a file in a standard OSX setup.

To Cut and Paste files, install XtraFinder[free].

If you are having trouble moving files to a particular location it can be a UNIX permissions issue. Open Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions on the drive. If it persists you may be having problems with the drive. How is it formatted?
