iCal not syncing/pushing changes to iPad

How come when I add or change appointments in iCal on my iMac, those changes show up instantly on my iPhone, but slower or not at all on my iPad. Both IOS Calendars are set to iCloud, both running the latest software, and as far as I can tell, all other settings match up.
