ipod will not reset

my 32gb ipod 5 with ios8 has gone into sleep mode. my ipod is less than 1 year old. i understand that you should be able to reset it by holding the home and lock buttons, but my lock button is broken. it won't turn back on when connected to a laptop or to any other power. what should i do?
