Q: Hello! I'd like to know if I can send international texts for free via wifi.
I've been looking it up online and as far as I can tell it is...but I'm still not 100% sure. I want to keep in touch with a friend who is in another country. I know that cellular data goes against your data plan, yet even though it charges it still doesn't use much unless you send an mms. And I know for sure SMS charges because it charges you for international texting. But if I use wifi will I not get charged at all and it would be just like using iMessage on an iPod? Or does using wifi also count against your data plan?
iPhone 5s, iOS 8.3

WiFI is independent of your cellular data plan --- assuming we are not talking about hotspot.
WiFi messages require some non-cellular support system, like iMessage.
In other words, if you use WiFi and do not use cellular, there is no cellular data charge.
