iTunes could not backup iPhone because it was disconnected

Greetings,

I'm having trouble backing up my iPhone 6 Plus and my most recent backup was April 20th of this year. I'm able to backup other devices to iTunes however it's my iPhone that's giving me trouble. I've ruled out the cable and switched USB ports with the same result. I did change the name of the iPhone because it defaulted to an older description "iPhone 2". I switched it to "Ryan's iPhone 6 Plus" so I suspect the name change may be the culprit. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan.
