WD 1TB My Passport Ultra won't connect to Macbook Pro

I just bought a WD 1TB My Passport Ultra for use with my early 2015 Macbook Pro running 10.10.3, and it won't connect whatsoever.

It does not show up on my desktop, or in Disk Utility.

Looking for advice and answers as I would not like to return this product and use it soon.

It may be faulty out of the box.

Try all USB ports.

Use a different cable.

Install the bare drive in a different enclosure and test.

Call WD technical support for assistance.
