iPhone 4s died and won't charge back up

Yesterday i plugged my iPhone 4s into my iHome to charge (which always works) but i came back an hour later to see it hadn't charged at all. I tried a wall charger and cleaned out the charging port but neither of those helped. This morning my phone died and i haven't been able to revive it since. I've tried plugging it into the computer to restore it but the message wouldn't pop up. I also tried resetting it by holding down the Sleep and Home buttons but all i get is the empty battery logo with a lighting bolt above it and a charger logo beneath. I've plugged it in countless times and tried holding down all sorts of buttons as well but nothing seems to work. If you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated, i really don't want to have to buy a whole new phone or battery. Thanks!

Hi, caitrinperkins.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that your iPhone will not power on after numerous troubleshooting steps. I think the best option would be to reach out to us via the quoted link below.

Contact Apple Support to set up service if you have any of these issues:

  • You still see a black screen after charging and resetting.
  • You see a black screen, but can hear alerts, sounds, and vibrations.
  • Your screen is on, but it doesn't respond to when you tap, slide, or try other gestures.
  • You can't force your device to restart because your Home button or Sleep/Wake button is broken or stuck.
  • Your device is stuck on the Apple logo, displays a solid color, or isn't recognized in iTunes.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on
