transferring data from old macbook to mac pro

When transferring my old macbook (2008) to my new mac pro I inadvertently transferred ALL data from old macbook instead of just the photos, iTunes library and documents. Now my new pro has the entire old macbook system, desktop setup as my old and everything that was on the new pro was sent to the trash. I believe I now have duplicate office suites (as I dl the office suite 2011 to my new pro before transferring process), and who knows duplicates of what else as it shows my drive is 3/4 full already. I don't want to randomly start deleting things. Suggestions? (I'm rather a novice still....). Thank you.
